Traditional line in the West - Europe

Since the late 60s of the last century July 17, 1967 the monk Taisen Deshimaru left Japan and traveled to France with the mission of bringing the Sotozen practice to Europe. In the 1970s, Taizan Maezumi Roshi gave his student Dennis Genpo Merzel the task of supporting Master Deshimaru in this mission and sent him to Europe.

x Close Zen has also taken root in Europe. The Soto School has portrayed the most important European temples in a short video (16:45 minutes).

The Zenriver Temple from Tenkei Coppens Roshi and Myoho Gabrysch Roshi in Holland is introduced from minute 13:45. Tenkei Roshi and Myoho Roshi are highly respected members of the Soto Zen school - and are part of our White Plum Zen lineage, which is now also bearing fruit in Germany.
