What can be said at all can be said clearly. We'll keep quiet about the rest.

„She was sitting on top of a cupboard. I put my hands on the window like blinders so that I could see into the salesroom better in the dark. A store for incense, Asian goods and fine fabrics in Düsseldorf's old town.“
Appreciate your life...

The first morning zazen has just started and I remember: so far we have entered the zendo, before six o'clock in the morning; we have settled on our cushions, the Roshi has greeted us with Kentan and now the first 40 minutes of zazen have begun...

On March 18, 2020 - in the wake of the coronavirus crisis - Kanzeon Sangha moved physical meditation from the Düsseldorf Zen Center to the internet. The 7 stages of the Zen way
Behind the stove, we happy people are cozy and elegant. In our happiness, this thought arises: „I hope it always stays this cozy!“ We happy people slide back and forth on our pillow. Although we are blessed with such happiness, questions arise within us...
Traditional line in the West - USA
In the last century, the seeds were sown for Zen in the West. The Soto School has portrayed the events in a video. Taizan Maezumi Roshi, one of these protagonists, is the „grandfather“ of our Zen lineage in Germany.

Four Noble Truths
The Four Noble Truths Show Your Wound Click. A soft crackling sound hits my tense body. Dr. Thiele leans over me with her mask on and says: „Let's see“... I'm lying in the dentist's chair, sweating, and the dentist has switched on the lamp and is leaning over me, the lamp humming softly ...

In 1998, I wrote down some of the experiences of my first ten years of Zen practice. At that time, I imagined the events of a morning sitting during a sesshin and recounted them. So far we have entered the zendo before six o'clock in the morning; we have settled on our cushions and now we are waiting for zazen to begin...
Enlightenment
A flame, once lit, illuminates a room that was previously dark. Now that I can see something, I can find my way around the room. I can move around without constantly bumping into tables or benches. Once I've got my bearings, I can start to get to know the things in the room and then use them as I wish. If I was blind before, I can now see...

In 1998, I wrote down some of the experiences of my first ten years of Zen practice. At the time, I imagined the events of a morning sitting during a sesshin and recounted them. If you like, follow me, the narrator, into the meditation room: we enter the zendo together, find our place and sit down on the meditation cushion...
Sitting
To understand Zen and to feel comfortable in Zen, it is good to sit in zazen every day. To sit zazen, choose a place that you like and where you can stay undisturbed for more than 20 minutes. Make sure the temperature and light are comfortable. Don't waste time looking for or setting up the place: you can sit anywhere.
