Kanzeon Sangha Germany

Zazen - Moving Life - Calm Mind - Zen Meditation at Kanzeon Sangha in Düsseldorf

Formerly

The History

As early as 1987, various Zen groups existed in several cities across Germany under the name "Kanzeon Zen Circle." Spiritual leadership of these groups and of the Kanzeon Zen Circle was held by Zen Master Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi.
Genpo Roshi had been invited to teach in Germany by his student Dr. Linda Myoki Lehrhaupt, Sensei. Sesshins were held at Linda's center in Bedburg-Erft every autumn and spring.
In 1996, the registered association Kanzeon Sangha Deutschland e.V. was founded to deepen and promote Zen teaching in the tradition of Hakuyu Taizan Maezumi Roshi and Genpo Merzel Roshi and their successors. Since then, the association has served as the „umbrella organization“ for all our Activities and the legal entity behind the Zen Center Düsseldorf.

Today

The present

Since March 2019 Christian Jikishin von Wolkahof, Sensei, lineage holder and successor to Genpo Roshi, has taken over the spiritual care of Kanzeon Sangha. Furthermore, the association is supported by close contact with Anton Tenkei Coppens Roshi, Abt des Zen River Temples in den Niederlanden in seiner Praxis stetig unterstützt. Neben wöchentlichen Meditations-Abenden werden derzeit zweimal jährlich Zen-Tage (Zazenkais) mit Tenkei Coppens Roshi und seinem NachfolgerHans Daishin Fischer Sensei organized in Düsseldorf.
Exchanges and invitations from teachers from other communities, which have existed for decades, are also maintained - albeit to a very limited extent due to the coronavirus crisis in 2020.
Kanzeon Sangha Deutschland e.V. is a member of the German Buddhist Union (DBU) und hält den Kontakt und den Austausch mit anderen Gruppen mit ähnlicher Ausrichtung auch auf internationaler Ebene.
